Abstract: The document is from Thomas Saaty's unpublished book "New Mathematics and Measurement for the Physical, Social and Life Sciences" finished in 2004. This is chapter 5: On the Measurement of Intangibles with Interdependence and Feedback: The Analytic Network and Neural Network Processes This chapter involves generalizations of the process of the measurement of intangibles and prioritization to network decisions with dependence of the criteria in terms of which intangibles are measured, on the intangibles themselves and also dependence among the intangibles on each other with respect to each criterion not only according to their functions but also according to their measurement through comparisons. Everything can be seen to influence everything else directly or through chains and cycles including itself according to many criteria as Schopenhauer thought. The world is far more interdependent than we know how to deal with using our existing kind of logical thinking and acting. Our brains themselves consist of highly complex networks of neurons that work with feedback. The intuition we develop is a result of such mixed thinking about past present and future and their interactions.
